Penn Crawford is a dedicated Richmond personal injury attorney who fights to help injured people and their families recover the compensation they deserve after serious accidents.
A lifelong Richmonder, Penn earned his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University before serving on Capitol Hill with the Oversight and Investigations staff for the House Commerce Committee. He later graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he received the prestigious Williams Scholarship and served on the Journal of Law in the Public Interest.
Early in his career, Penn gained valuable courtroom experience in a wide range of cases, including a matter that led to the Virginia Supreme Court’s first interpretation of the Virginia Limited Liability Company Act. That foundation sharpened his ability to anticipate how judges and juries respond to real-life evidence—skills he now puts to work every day for injury victims across Central Virginia.
As co-author of the 2026 book “Injured in Virginia: What You Need to Know About Personal Injury Claims,” Penn provides clear, practical guidance to help people understand their rights and navigate the claims process with confidence. He has obtained millions of dollars in settlements and trial verdicts for his clients and regularly shares his hard-earned trial knowledge with other attorneys. In December 2025, he presented the Connectionology webinar “Three Trial Legends: Fine, Jamail & Levine.” In April 2026, he co-taught “From Panic to Power: Embracing Fear in the Courtroom.” He was also a featured guest on the trial lawyers podcast Courtroom Stories & Tactics.
Penn has been recognized every year since 2019 by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Legal Elite—honors that reflect the respect of his peers and his consistent track record of results.
He takes pride in treating every client like family: returning calls promptly, explaining things in plain English, and never losing sight of the fact that behind every case is a person whose life has been turned upside down. His guiding principle comes from the late Honorable Robert R. Merhige Jr., who reminded Penn’s law school class that it is a true privilege to represent people in their time of need.
Outside the office, Penn enjoys spending time with his wife Kate (also an attorney) and their two daughters, staying active through sports, and exploring the outdoors.
